LUCA GILLI

Luca Gilli (1965) lives and works in Cavriago (Reggio Emilia, Italy). After graduating in Natural Sciences, he carried out research activities for the University of Parma in the zoological and ecological fields for several years. Since 2004 he has devoted himself entirely to photography and graphics.

His photographs are part of private collections and Italian and European museums of photography and contemporary art: the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, the Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi, the Kunstbibliothek in Berlin, the Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain in Strasbourg, the Musée Réattu in Arles, the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, the Diocesan Museum Chiostri di S. Eustorgio in Milan, the Galleria Civica in Modena, the BNL BNP Paribas Collection, the Foundation Antonio and Carmela Calderara, the Gori Collection - Fattoria di Celle and many others.

Important critics of photography and contemporary art and eminent exponents of culture in Italy and France have written about his work.

In 2011 he published the book Blank with a critical text by Quentin Bajac, then director of photography at the Center Pompidou in Paris.

In 2016, Skira Editore published the monograph Incipit, with critical texts by Walter Guadagnini, Gianfranco Ravasi and Luca Doninelli.
