BILL ARMSTRONG

Born in 1952 in Montreal (Canada), Bill Armstrong lives and works in New York. After studying Art History he devoted himself to photography. Since 1997 he has been working on the Infinity series, which collects out of focus photographs taken with the lens aimed at infinity. With this particular technique, the subjects dematerialize, become evanescent, transform in shape and color. One of his creations is chosen for the cover of Lyle Rexer's book, The Edge of Vision: The Rise of Abstraction in Photography (2009). His Mandala series was presented at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2008.
Bill Armstrong's photographs are part of important public and private collections, such as American Museum in Britain, Bath, UK; Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Paris; Brooklyn Museum, New York, NY; Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge, USA; Getty Center, Los Angeles, USA; Musee De l'Elysee, Lausanne, Switzerland; Museum of the City of New York, New York, USA; Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, USA; WM Hunt / Dancing Bear, New York, USA; Woodstock Center for Photography, Woodstock, USA; Vatican Museums, Vatican City; Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK
